The Announcement of the School of Liberal Arts,
King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi on Exemption from
LNG 500: Remedial English Course for Post Graduate Students and
LNG 600: In-House English Course for Post Graduate Students

The School of Liberal Arts has announced an exemption on LNG 500: Remedial English Course for Post Graduate Students and LNG 600: In-House English Course for Post Graduate Students. Students can request the exemption after attaining one of the following qualifications:
     
      1  
Achieved a TOEFL paper-based score of at least 500; or computer-based score of at least 173.
      2   Have to achieve an IELTS score of at least 5.5.
      3  
Be native speakers or can use English equal to a native speaker and graduated with at least a bachelor’s degree from an English speaking country. (The faculty committee will consider from domicile countries and education background.)
      4  
Be a former graduate student of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi and passed LNG 600 or LNG 601 not more than two years previous.

Remark - The comparisons between TOEFL scores and English fundamental courses are as follows:
   
TOEFL scores English Fundamental Courses

a paper-based score of less than 450
or a computer-based score of less than 133
or an internet-based score of less than 45

Must study LNG 550 and LNG 600

a paper-based score of 450-499
or a computer-based score of 133-172
or an internet-based score of 45-60

Must study LNG 600

a paper-based score of over 500
or a computer-based score of over 173
or an internet-based score of over 61

Exempt from studying English fundamental courses
