King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi on Instruction Management of LNG 500, 600 and 601

For the clear management and efficient administration of LNG 550 Remedial English Course for Post Graduate Students, LNG 600 In-House English Course for Post Graduate Students and LNG 601 Foundation English Course for International Program, the Council of the School of Liberal Arts on its 5/2546 th Meeting on the 5 th March B.E. 2546 (2003) established regulations and conditions as follows:
     
      1.  
Students must take a placement test when applying for study at the university in order to evaluate the proficiency of English and capability to study in English. Students passing with a score of over 76% will have English study waived.
      2.   Students must register coursework within three semesters after initial enrollment. Otherwise, they must submit a TOEFL score taken not more than two years before to the Graduates and International Office. A TOEFL score of not lower than 500 (Paper-based) or 173 (Computer-based) must be achieved.
      3.  
The School will open two levels of English course, so that students can study based on the results of the placement test
         
3.1
LNG 550 shall be studied by Level 1.
         
3.2
LNG 600 shall be studied by Level 2 of regular programs. LNG 601 shall be studied by Level 2 of English programs.
      4.  
The regulations of registration for LNG 550 and LNG 600 are as follows;
         
4.1
Students passing the placement test with a score of lower than 50% must study LNG 550 and LNG 600.
         
4.2
Students passing the Placement Test with a score of 50-75% must study LNG 600.
      5.  
The classes for LNG 550 and LNG 600 will not be opened in the regular semesters and summer sessions, but will open for LNG 601.
      6.  
The classes for LNG 550 and LNG 600 will be opened only in the evening as follows;
         
6.1
LNG 550 shall be taken at 17:30-20:30, one day a week.
         
6.2
LNG 600 shall be taken at 17:30-19:30, two days a week.
      7.  
Students must register for LNG 550 and LNG 600 in the groups given by the School to the Graduates and International Office within the indicated period. Each group shall contain not more than 35 people.
      8.  
LNG 601 shall be opened if there are not less than 20 people and not more than 30 people registering for the course.
      9.  
Credit fees for students in regular programs are 1,000 baht per credit.
         
9.1
LNG 550 consists of 2 credits (1,000x2 = 2,000 baht)
         
9.2
LNG 600 consists of 3 credits (1,000x3 = 3,000 baht)
      10.  
Credit fees for students in English programs are 1,600 baht per credit.
         
10.1
 

LNG 601 consists of 3 credits (1,600x3 = 4,800 baht)
